Steampunk

Adrienne Martini mentioned the fashion term "steampunk" once and I was intrigued enough to Google it.  Oddly enough, the very next week, I was shopping with friends at a Farmers' Market in Jackson and came across the coolest clockwork accessories.  The creator was astounded when she asked if I had heard of steampunk and I actually knew what she was talking about.  Thank you, Adrienne.  I looked all culturally progressive there for about 3 seconds.  LOL!

Since then, I find the term steampunk popping up all over the place and I am a wee bit in love. Here are some items I like , just to give you a peek inside...

Blouse 1
Lingerie Lace Skirt
Lucille Walking Suit
Bathing Tunic
Cotton Bloomers
Striped Jacket
Top Hat
Handgun Heel
Book Locket

Anywho, it is sort of a Victorian/Edwardian/Modern mix of styles.  I like it.

  1. Holy smokes...something I'd heard of before you?? :) LOL Ok, I've had my 3 seconds of cultural progressiveness now too, thanks, Heather! You made me feel really cool for a second there. :) I actually first heard of it in a couple of places - the Cake Wrecks blog did a series on cakes in that style, then at Halloween there was a piece on MSNBC about a haunted house (Seattle maybe?) done completely in steampunk style. Really interesting, I agree.
